Raychis is built privacy-first. Most of what you do in the app never leaves your device. This page is the formal explanation; the short version is "we collect as little as possible and we don't share it."
1. What we collect
1.1 What stays on your device
Plants you save, photos you take, notes you write, identification history, care reminders, and any settings you change are all stored locally in the app's SQLite database and your device's file system. We have no copy of any of this.
1.2 Diagnostics and optional analytics
We don't run servers that store your account or your garden. There is no "us" copy of your data. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous diagnostics, and only through our error-reporting processor, Sentry.
Crash and error diagnostics help us find and fix faults. A report contains the error and a technical stack trace, the app version, and your device model and operating-system version. It never contains your photos, plant data, or notes. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and secure for this. It is on by default, and you can turn it off when you first open the app or at any time in Settings -> Privacy.
Usage analytics (off by default) attaches basic signals (which screens are opened, which features are used) to those diagnostic reports to give a crash context. No personal data, no plant data, no photos. Turn it on or off any time in Settings -> Privacy -> Analytics.
Sentry may process these diagnostics on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer relies on appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum). If you allow neither crash reporting nor analytics, no data leaves your device through this channel.
How long we keep them. We keep these diagnostics only as long as they are useful for fixing faults. Sentry automatically and permanently deletes each crash report, and any analytics attached to it, within 30 days of receiving it. We do not keep a separate copy, and a report cannot be recovered once it has been deleted.
1.3 What gets sent to Apple / Google
Subscription verification, when you start or change a Plus subscription, goes through Apple's StoreKit or Google Play Billing. We receive only a subscription status flag, not your payment details or Apple ID / Google account.
1.4 If you contact support
Email you send to support@raychis.app is stored in our email provider's inbox so we can reply. We keep it for as long as is useful to support you, typically 12 months from the last reply.
2. What we don't do
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
- We don't share your data with third-party advertisers.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't require an account.
- We don't upload your plant photos to identify them. Identification happens on your device.
3. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Because most of your data never reaches us, GDPR rights mostly apply to things you can do yourself:
- Access: Settings -> Data -> Export. Exports a .raychis bundle containing every plant, photo, and note.
- Erasure: Settings -> Privacy -> Delete all data. Permanently removes everything Raychis has stored about you on your device.
- Analytics opt-out: Settings -> Privacy -> Analytics. Off at any time, retroactive for new sessions.
- Email-stored data (support correspondence): Email support@raychis.app to ask us to delete.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
4. Children
Raychis is suitable for all ages, but we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, contact support@raychis.app and we will delete it.
5. Changes
We will update this page if we change anything material. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be announced in-app and on the news page.
